In construction the water is pumped from wells or sumps to temporarily lower the groundwater levels, to allow excavation in dry and stable conditions below natural groundwater level. Many dewatering companies have come into existence since the need for dewatering has gone up.

Just like knowing the land type, it is equally important to understand the water table condition of your area else all your hard work and efforts will go in vain. In many areas, the water level usually remains high means you can’t take that down by any means. Hence it is recommended to know the water table cycle of your area.

Legal Conditions.  

Before you start your work on dewatering make sure to check if you need any permissions or permits for doing the same or you can land yourself in trouble.

Choosing The Right Pump.

One thing you must keep into consideration is that not every pump can be used for every water type. I mean you can’t be using a single pump for every type of water. You can also make use of the dewatering bags for the job. Though this isn’t something that can be used for dewatering huge spaces. But this is very relevant as far as the dewatering goes.

Sump Pumps. 

If the water accumulated isn’t very much, you can use sump pumps for dewatering the space. Sump pumps are small pumps that channel water away from sump basins. They are mainly of two types:

a)   Submersible sump pumps which are totally hidden in your sump basin.

b)   Pedestal sump pumps which are mounted above floor level on columns that protrude out of the sump basin.
